Leather Jackets – Why They Are So Great for Traveling

by Kirsten on May 14, 2010

Helmut Lang Leather JacketWhat is the best jacket to wear while traveling? Look no further. Leather jackets have long been a staple to everyone’s wardrobes, but in the recent past, they have become beautifully chic, available in a wide array of colors, cuts, and styles. Until this last year, it was not a part of my wardrobe, but I can now say that I am a proud owner of one of the best jackets I have ever owned. Before you choke on the prices, remember these are items meant to last forever. Leather wears really well and you can use it for years to come. It is well worth spending a little extra to get something gorgeous and well-made.

I particularly love the butter softness of a quality leather, the supple texture makes you never want to take it off. When wearing it you feel like a million bucks, and it truly is a fashion item that every person must own. If you find one that is high-quality and a more classic cut, you are making a great investment for years to come.

When traveling, packing a jacket is a huge pain in the ass. They take up a ton of space, and the thinner jackets will often not be warm enough in certain locations. The great thing about leather is that you can get a very thin fitting jacket, and yet it provides enough warmth for really cold nights, and yet breathes for more warmer temperatures as well.

So, for the question, what jacket should I bring on vacation? This will help answer your question!

All that said, I believe the leather jacket to be in the top three jacket picks for traveling. (If you don’t believe me, take a look at all the celebs wearing leather jackets over the years, even now you can’t deny the leather trend, it’s huge!)  These items I have chosen below are so gorgeous and in a wide array of prices. Starting with the most expensive and going to some great cheaper prices:

In the upper echelon of quality and price we have brands such as Vince, Mike & Chris, (don’t even get me started on Rick Owens, he is a bit out of price range!), Helmut Lang, and S.W.O.R.D.

Should you find a great leather jacket you love, you now no longer have to ask, what jacket should I bring traveling? I guarantee, this is a great suggestion, as well as a great item to add to your wardrobe!

Should you need assistance about coupon codes or savings, let me know!

Great post! I rarely travel w/o my Leather Jacket. It’s a Canadian brand, but it’s starting to get a little more attention. Mine is the Mackage Kenya Jacket in Petrol. It’s BEAUTIFUL.

Thank you! I have to say I want like five leather jackets now, of all colors and styles. The post was a great idea at the time, but now I feel like dropping thousands of dollars, that I don’t even have, on a bunch of jackets. AHH!

Such nice post on what’s nice about wearing jackets. Gives me ideas on how to perfectly time using jackets. Hope you could also feature a thing or two about how to wear dresses or right bags in style. Looking forward to it in the future. Kudos!! :)
