It’s always my goal to make sure you travel in style and maintain your fashionista status, but luggage generally leaves a lot to be desired. Thankfully I am looking out for you and constantly make sure I am scouring the net for the latest and greatest in what will provide a chic look to your travels. Rimowa, from Germany since 1898, really helps accomplish this with their Salsa Air Cabin Trolley Multiwheel. Yes ladies and gentlemen, this is carry-on friendly!
Generally there are a few different kinds of people when it comes to the type of luggage they choose. The budget-minded functional traveler, the couture traveler, and the I-know-my-stuff and only want the best of the best traveler. Now, I must say there is nothing wrong with any of these directions you might take, but I can tell you where I would like to put myself in that list. At first glance you might expect that I would choose the couture traveler, with the Louis Vuitton luggage and top-of-the-line designs. But, I am as much a traveler as I am a fashionista, and that means that I expect the best of all worlds. I want functionable, light-weight, high quality, innovative luggage; luggage that will stand up to a beating and look good while doing so.
You may have heard of Tumi (Tumi is another high-quality travel tested luggage line who recently announced their Colorization feature), luggage that really stands the test of time, but perhaps you’re looking for something a bit different.
Rimowa was recently given the 2010 Product Innovation Award by the Travel Goods Association as well as named Best Luggage by Travel + Leisure Design Awards for 2010. Made of polycarbonate materials, this luggage is super durable and 70% lighter than most other soft-sided luggage. When you become a frequent traveler, hell, even travel just once, you will quickly understand why light-weight luggage becomes your new best friend. The Cabin Multiwheel, shown here, is only a measly five pounds! It has a patented multiwheel system, which helps maneuverability and allows for quick movements in any direction. It comes in four different fashionable colors at about $450.
This may seem pricey to most, and I include myself in that list, but luggage should be able to last a long time. Well, good luggage should. I can tell you I have easily spent a few hundred dollars over the last couple years on luggage or suitcases from bargain stores like TJ Maxx, Marhsall’s or Ross, and almost all but one of them are totally destroyed or broken. I now realize this is an area you don’t skimp on.
Why not pick a new piece of luggage that while you are wandering through the airports on your travels says, “yes, I travel, I know what I am doing, I travel in style, and I do it enough to spend a little extra to get the best”.
This is a fairly new design for Rimowa, so they are not offered everywhere. I made sure to include a link to a reputable luggage site, in fact, Irvs Luggage has been around since 1947. If you pick one of these up, I will be SO jealous, but you must share your thoughts!
Leave a comment and tell me what you think, would you spend the extra money for quality luggage that is both fashionable and stylish?
