ideeli happens to be one of my favorite daily addictions, as well as the fastest growing online members-only shopping sites in the U.S. I can’t tell you how many amazing deals I have received on designer jeans, shoes, tops, and so much more. So, you can imagine my excitement when I learned of their new ideelACCESS local daily deals and Travel Tuesdays!

This week I spoke with Tamara Rosenthal, Executive Director of Marketing for ideeli – who, by the way, is amazing – and we chatted about all the great developments for ideeli in the last month. September 21, 2010, marked the official date ideeli announced Travel Tuesdays, their dedicated category for too-good-to-pass-up travel deals and packages. At 30-60% off regular prices, ideeli will offer curated member-only packages to luxury and boutique properties world-wide.

These travel experiences will not only be exclusive to hotel stays, but will be augmented by members-only perks such as complimentary room upgrades, spa and restaurant credits, free pool and cabana rentals, and even a gourmet picnic lunch or other amenity packages! These amazing deals will be featured every Tuesday (hence the name “Travel Tuesdays”), and will run for six days or until sold out.

Check out some of their past travel offerings:

  • A group-buy deal on ideelACCESS:  $50 for a $100 credit toward any of the 600+ properties in the Mr. and Mrs. Smith luxury hotel network.
  • Exclusive packages to Lake Austin Spa (Texas), The Venetian (Las Vegas) and Cabo Azul (Mexico).
  • Giveaway to a 4-night stay at the Banyan Tree Mayakoba, a 5-star star property in Playa del Carmen valued at up to $4500.

Yesterday marked the start of three new sales, The Sofia Hotel: San Diego, CA, Banyan Tree Mayakoba: Riviera Maya, Mexico, andthe Sivory: Punta Cana, Dominican Republic. Um, yes, count me in!

To add a cherry on top, October 19, 2010, announced the official start of ideelACCESS, a local-extension of its social commerce platform. New York City is their first and only city offering daily local deals, but I have on good authority that a city on the West Coast will soon be added, most likely before the end of the year! I imagine it won’t be long before other major cities are featured.

Like other social commerce sites, ideelACCESS harnesses the power of group buying, requiring a minimum number of sales to activate the deal. Their launch week included offers at Manhattan favorites such as Exhale Spa, Ovando florist, Bistro Bagatelle, Jami Saunders Photography and Shop Gotham shopping tours.

When speaking with Tamara, I asked how ideeli differentiates themselves from other similar websites that offer drastically reduced-price travel deals and daily local deals. Her answer made a lot of sense, and reminded me of the exact reason why I love ideeli so much.

ideeli will be offering deals that they hand-select, and that fit the direct needs of their members. They have gone to great lengths to assure that no deal goes sour, and all will be fulfilled as promised. Unfortunately with some other sites, fulfillment of promised deals falls through at times. Yikes!

In addition, ideeli plans to offer a wide variety of travel deals that are financially attainable for their members. Sure high-priced luxury vacations are amazing, but let’s be real – we all can’t afford it. ideeli is aware of this issue, and therefore has created luxurious travel packages that are within the realm of possibility for most members! We also can expect less black-out dates, another huge benefit! Thank you for that, ideeli!

ideeli currently serves 3.2 million members. Just last December, they were at 1 million members. Wow! They don’t attribute this growth to just one factor, but really a series of developments since December  – an updated look and feel to the site, significant engagement across social media platforms, expanded product offerings across additional categories, and the launch of their group buying platform, ideelACCESS. Congrats ideeli! You know I love you!

If you have not yet experienced ideeli, please accept my personal invitation to this members-only community. There is no sign-up fee, and you will be amazed at what they have to offer!

Well, someone has endless amounts of money. The legendary Karl Lagerfeld of Chanel is now designing his own island – Isla Moda – in the United Arab Emirates. Yes, not the hotel on the island, but the island itself. Crazy, I know.

Lagerfeld will be working in collaboration with Miami-based architecture firm Oppenheimer and the Kor Hotel Group to design this 1.2 million square foot island, topped off with some over-the-top buildings. You know, like the cherry on top!

Isla Moda, which Spanish speakers and most romance languages will recognize as meaning Fashion Island, will have 150 residential units (probably condos or townhomes), three luxury hotels, spas, lounges, and PLENTY of chic boutiques. Like any of us are surprised.

Due to be completed by 2014, it is said that Isla Moda is inspired by the floating palaces of India and cruise ships. It sounds like this undertaking will be a traveling fashionista’s dream come true. With every last minute detail designed by Karl himself, I know the fashion world will be expecting a lot!

Here are some of the artist renderings of the new island. I would be lying if I said I wasn’t feeling a bit of the “Biodome” theme going on. (Did I just date myself by remembering that movie?!?)

What do you think of this crazy new project? Are you a fan of what it looks to have in store? Leave your thoughts below!

Maison MoschinoAnother fashion hotel to add to the list, is the Maison Moschino in Milan, Italy.  Italy’s style capital gets its first hotel from a fashion house in their busy Corso Como neighborhood. Moschino is known for having a whimsical approach to their fashion, and this hotel is no different. With ballgown-style beds, rooms designed with candy in mind, it all is very “Alice in Wonderland” in its feel.

Here is some information provided by the hotel:

The hotel is located in the old neoclassical railway station on Viale Monte Grappa, 12, that opened in 1840 for the Milan-Monza route. The hotel’s creative direction is led by Rossella Jardini and Moschino’s creative team.

Mus Travel FashionFor those that travel the world, whether it be for business or pleasure, a common complaint is finding comfortable and fashionable clothing to not only wear while traveling, but to also pack and bring with you on your trip. Space is scarce, multi-functionality is key, and one still wants to look fashionable and stylish while on the go. This has long been a common complaint among the jet-setting women of the world, and I include myself in that list. Most women want to feel beautiful and comfortable while traveling, but we often have to forsake one for the other. Do you choose to focus on your appearance and forget the comfort? Or do you choose to be comfortable and forget the fashion?

Myriam Ullens, a front-row regular to both Dior and Chanel, and wife to Belgian industrialist, Guy Ullens, is launching Mus, a high-end knitwear line designed for fashionable women on the move. Although Myriam has the means to buy couture, owns a few fashion boutiques, and travels the globe frequently, she still feels there are clothes that she can’t get her hands on, clothes that are imperative to her travel needs of being easy, comfortable, and elegant. For a woman that travels over 300 days a year, she also pours her energies into charity work for disadvantaged children, cancer patients and contemporary art, which culminated with the 2007 opening of the Ullens Center for Contemporary Art in Beijing, the site of a major Dior retrospective in 2008.

Armani Hotel DubaiGiorgio Armani introduced a new chapter to his life venturing into the hospitality industry with the grand opening of the Armani Hotel in Dubai. Despite the recent economic downturn and debt problems Dubai has been faced with, Giorgio Armani SpA and Emaar Properties continued the hotel development with optimism. This is the first hotel Armani has stamped with his signature name, and plans to expand his empire with multiple other properties and residency developments throughout other major key cities across the globe. Women’s Wear Daily provided a full article on the opening of his hotel, and the pictures are simply beautiful.

“The idea is that you should feel as if you are coming to my home,” said Giorgio Armani.

Damn HeelsLadies, this is the greatest idea I have seen in a long, long time. I am so excited to introduce this to you, as it is something I already put on order! Damn Heels, founded by Hailey Coleman, introduces lightweight and fashionable fold-up flats to save women from their (beloved) damn heels. After one excruciatingly painful, hour-long post-party walk home in London, England, Hailey decided that walking the streets barefoot was a faux pas that could – and needed – to be prevented.

My GOD, how I have been here before. In fact, I can remember more times than I care to admit – from Las Vegas to Puerto Rico to my own home town…walking home with blistered, sore, tired bare feet.  Not a finer moment, but one that almost every single woman can relate to! Aside from the obvious, this idea has more than meets the eye. Let me explain in giddy detail:

by Kirsten on April 12, 2010

Easton Indonesian Denim Those that know me, know I have a huge love of denim, premium denim to be exact, which is why I was excited to receive this new denim line’s lookbook in my inbox. Easton jeans, proudly and ethically made in Indonesia, is introducing three cuts, two for men, and one unisex. I love to feature international brands, especially when they are coming to the US market. It’s a perfect way to bridge what is current in global fashion with my love of faraway places.
