I had the pleasure of reviewing a wonderful new app for the iPhone and iPad. TourWrist is an innovative new application that allows users to travel remotely through the simple tap of the screen. Instantly users are taken away on a virtual tour of some of the most amazing cities, hotels, restaurants (and more!) in the world.
Using this app is like a real-life travel experience at the palm of your hands. My favorite tour was of the Chicago Riverwalk. Instantly I was transported right to the spot that I had just stood only months before. If I moved the iPhone up, then I could see the tops of all the buildings, the bright blue sky, and the beautiful skyline. If I turned around slowly, it was as if I was turning around while standing along the river in Chicago. Completely intuitive, an amazing tactile experience.
Here is a blurb from their website with more details:
With Tour Wrist®, iPhones and iPads become portals. So when you point your device up, you’ll truly appreciate a property’s grand staircase. Turning around gives you the full stadium seating experience. And looking down will reveal just how much leg space a vehicle has to offer. Plus, even if you don’t have an iPhone 3GS, iPhone 4, or iPad, you can still view “tours” through our intuitive, touch-based controls. Check out travel destinations one minute, hotels and restaurants the next, or even look inside new homes. With powerful search, sort, and sharing tools, Tour Wrist® gives you the power to travel, remotely.
The app was extremely easy to use, and the search function operated without a hitch. Just what I would hope for with a new app on the market!
I have on great authority that there will be tons more tours offered soon, to the tune of 70,000 more in the next 4-6 weeks! For those with an inquiring mind like my own, here are the ways the tours are added:
There are a few ways tours get added:
- Professional photographers can import them one at a time using our site or in massive batch uploads.
- Individuals and businesses can hire professional photographers to document properties, create the tours, and upload to our system for them.
- Soon, a $9.99 TW Capture app will allow anyone with an iPhone 4, 3GS, or the new iPod Touch to create and post “AmaTours” in a matter of seconds. These tours may not be as high in quality, but will be extremely easy to make.
How wonderful is this! I can’t wait to see what they offer next, and in the meantime, I highly recommend downloading the TourWrist app from iTunes!
Love, K.
