Road Trip! For some reason whenever I see/hear that phrase, it makes me want to yell it out like I am in some weird early 90′s movie. Don’t quite know why, but that’s the case. This weekend D. and I were not interested in hanging around the house so we decided to find somewhere to go last minute. We definitely don’t have the funds to be traveling far or take any plane flights, and considering we just got back from Hawaii five days ago, it’s probably a bit nutty to be feeling this way already. But, this is the case with me (and now us), as I am always looking for a new adventure and trip to go on. Finding an excuse to travel should be a specialty of mine. So this is the deal, we don’t want to spend more than $100 (give or take), we have a dog we can’t leave behind at home all alone, we have to be home by Sunday morning for Mother’s Day brunch with my beautiful mom, grandparents, and other family, and we want to go somewhere new (or at least somewhere we haven’t been together). Sounds a bit limiting, right? Well, it’s not, not at all.
When I got home from work today, I started doing a little bit of research. Research and I go hand in hand. It’s part of my nature and need to learn and experience more, always continually educating myself. Either that, or its the control-freak in me. Whatever, I say it’s because I am educating myself, it sounds better. I had an idea of how far we could drive, no more than about four hours out, which would give us about a four hour drive home. We wanted a beautiful area to drive through, as the drive is part of the adventure. Luckily, living in the Bay Area in California allows us so many gorgeous areas to visit, it is not a tough task to undertake. We always plan to stop along the way, finding cute or fun eats for cheap, places to take beautiful pictures, and anything else that we desire. In the end, we decided upon Napa Valley, wine country.
