Gift Suggestion for the Traveler: Bungalow Bags

I was the lucky recipient of two different Bungalow Bags, their Original Deano Scout Tote and their Life Support Carry On Travel Accessory. The first bag up for review is the Original Deano Scout Tote. This bag started it all for Bungalow, and it’s easy to see why.

Made of a very durable polywoven fabric, it’s perfect for traveling, trips to the beach, groceries, and more. Not only can it easily be wiped clean (a feature that I happen to LOVE), but it also is water resistant, making it perfect for almost any type of environment. It’s reinforced handles assure an extra level of protection and strength when you happen to carry a full load. I chose this really fun print, Vine of the Times, but if it’s not your style there are 10 other options available – both printed and solid colors.

The next bag, has a very different function, one equally important and destined for years of great use. The Life Support Carry On Accessory really sparked my interest as it has a few great features that I love. Made of a coated 100% cotton twill, it too is water resistant and easily able to be wiped clean – which is definitely needed for a bag that carries toiletries! My favorite feature is that it rolls-up for transport, but when opened completely, it has a strap that allows it to be hung – fully open and with all your items displayed. This is especially great when you don’t want to clutter up a counter-top! It deceptively holds a lot of items and definitely works great for traveling. How much do you love this print? Great Messenger Bag for Travel: haiku bags by Sharon Eisenhauer

Every now and then I like to highlight great items made from smaller companies, or single individuals. Especially during this day and age, it’s nice to support our smaller run businesses. This is precisely why it is my pleasure to introduce you to Sharon Eisenhauer’s haiku bags. I had the pleasure of checking out one of her beautifully designed messenger bags in person. A perfect option for the most discerning traveling fashionistas – it’s high quality, globally-responsible and carries a very unique, dynamic message behind it.

Sharon began haiku with the vision in mind to create a handbag company founded on the concept of beauty and utility. As their website states: “A bag that’s just beautiful isn’t haiku enough. If you haven’t been paying attention lately, messenger bags are everywhere. We can rarely go a day without seeing someone carry one about town, in the airport, or in the glossy pages of the latest magazines. It really is the bag to have! Whether traveling or at home, one can always find a use for one.

The Rumi Collection by haiku carries a beautiful messenger bag known as their “Bough” style. This bag is even more beautiful in person and with its amazing features, it rivals as one of the most functional messenger bags I have seen.

This particular messenger bag is their everything bag. Complete with yoga mat straps, laptop and roller bag sleeves – they call it the work, play, and get serene bag! The embroidery on the outside is simply beautiful, and get this – the bag is made completely of recycled plastic! Yet another reason to support her beautiful creations.

In hand, I loved the way this bag felt. Very sturdy, high quality, and yet had a very individualized feeling. It’s unique – something you don’t see everyday, and it really would stand out in a crowd. In addition, it’s a great size and could easily carry your must-have items while traveling (making it a perfect companion for your carry-on personal item)!

Fun and Fashionable Luggage – The Seatbelt Bag by Harveys

It’s my duty to show you fun and fashionable luggage when it doesn’t come with a humongous price tag. I happened to be checking out one of my favorite luggage sites, Irv’s Luggage, and what happened to be right on their homepage? One of my all-time favorite bags, the Harveys Seatbelt Bag! Yes, they really are made of seatbelts.

I came across this bag years ago, when I saw a woman carrying the purse version. I thought it was funky, cool, and oozed of high quality. Since then I have seen their bags carried by a variety of people, including Britney Spears, Brooke Shields, Shannon Elizabeth and Jessica Alba! But, I never knew they made luggage! You can imagine my excitement when I saw this today, and I knew that I was instantly going to pass the info along to other fellow Traveling Fashionistas!

Amazing luggage at ridiculous prices – Hermès Orion for $13,000

Something a little fun for your afternoon, and soon to be a regular post you will see now and then, is amazing luggage at ridiculous prices. Today’s honor goes to Hermès. This luggage, known as their “Orion” by the French luxury fashion house is $13,100 for just this one piece. Yes, you heard me correctly, $13,100. Good God.

I don’t think I have ever seen a piece of luggage this expensive, and you know it says quite the statement if you are caught carrying a piece like this. Aside from screaming, “Rob me!”, or “Steal my luggage!”, it also shows that you are fully able to completely waste this type of money on one item. An item only used to travel.

So what makes this thing so special? Well, check this out. It is aluminum reinforced with carbon and Kevlar. Yes, it’s bulletproof.

So, if you happen to be on the run from the cartel, perhaps a special agent like James Bond, or want to just waste away money, you found your bag.

The Orion comes from Hermès’ Spring/Summer 2010 Collection, which means it could be going on sale soon! Sale! You know, for like $10,000, because that makes it totally reasonable.

Cute Camera Bags – Feminine, Stylish and Fashionable

We knew it wouldn’t be long after I purchased my new DSLR that I would need to find a cute camera bag to tote this sucker around. Many thanks to reader Vicky, who asked about my recommendations for a cute camera bag, prompting me to provide readers with some great suggestions on this very topic. There is a total lack of stylish camera bags readily available, but you can find them if you do a bit of research and searching. I am in the process of finding a great one to use for my Nikon and plan to do a full review of it once I make a final selection. In the meantime, here is my list of favorite DSLR bags that both are functional and chic (in a variety of price ranges).
